Chestnut Hill started over 20 years ago and is located
along the Skunk River in Lee county near Denmark,
Iowa. It was so named because of the 40 some
chestnut trees we have grown from seed and also the
bluff that our land is on.

My interest in art surfaced at a very early age.  I
received my potters wheel at the age of 16.  I am still
using the same wheel today, but have recently
electrified it!  I throw and hand build with stoneware
clay and create unique nature inspired pieces for the
home and garden. From watering cans and luminaries
to bowls and mugs, each piece is handcrafted with
care.

Several years ago my interest in glass started to
surface.  I  work on the torch and incorporate beads in
the pottery.  Marble making has become a hobby.  It is
so entrancing to watch the fire of the torch and later
to hold the shiny colorful balls.  I also enjoy the fiber
art and weave on several looms. Felting wool is also a
fun hobby.

I am married to a wonderful man, Kevin and have two
girls.  Kevin has built a labyrinth in the yard for
walking.  I also make lap labyrinths out of clay. They
are wonderful centuries old meditation tools.

I invite you and your friends for a day in the country.
Come enjoy the beautiful view of the river valley, walk
the labyrinth and browse the shop!
